Special Weather Alert – Sea to Sky

A wintery mix of weather conditions is expected to impact the South Coast of BC over the next several days. A low-pressure system will bring rain to the BC coast today, with up to 4 cm of wet snow at higher elevations before turning to rain Friday. Warmer temperatures will bring mostly rain, but colder arctic air this weekend could lead to accumulating snowfall. Warnings will be issued as needed.

How to Stay Safe During Severe Winter Weather

  • Stay Informed – Keep an eye on local weather forecasts and sign up for Pemberton Alert for local emergency notifications at http://Pemberton.ca/alert
  • Check road conditions – Follow @DriveBC for travel updates.
  • Prepare Your Vehicle – Keep your gas tank full, check tire tread, and carry an emergency kit with blankets, flashlight, and jumper cables.
  • Dress for the Cold – Wear layers, cover exposed skin, and limit time outdoors in extreme temperatures.
  • Avoid Risky Travel – If roads are hazardous, stay home if possible. If you must drive, go slow and keep plenty of distance from other vehicles.
  • Check on Neighbors – Look out for elderly or vulnerable neighbors who may need assistance.
