The Village of Pemberton and the Pemberton Child Care Society Board of Directors recognize the community’s anticipation for the opening of the Pemberton Children’s Centre new daycare facility expansion and appreciate the ongoing patience and support of families eagerly awaiting this vital service.
While significant progress has been made, unforeseen challenges have delayed the full opening of the facility. A warranty inspection identified concerns related to the HVAC system, a roof leak, and the need for further assessment of areas impacted by previous water exposure. While initial mitigation efforts were completed, recent testing indicated that further work is required to ensure the facility meets the highest standards for a safe operating environment.
A comprehensive remediation plan is currently being developed, with work expected to begin in the upcoming weeks. The Village of Pemberton remains committed to ensuring the new daycare is a safe and welcoming environment for children and educators. In collaboration with the Pemberton Child Care Society Board, necessary steps are being taken to address these issues as quickly and thoroughly as possible.
The daycare successfully received its Community Care and Assisted Living Act licence on January 2, 2025, for an initial capacity of 25 students, with expansion to the full 50-student capacity pending additional staffing. The Board and Pemberton Children’s Centre Management continues to work diligently to secure the required certified Early Childhood Educators and Assistants, a process that has been impacted by local housing availability.
