At the October 4. 2016 Regular Council Meeting, Council rose with report from the September 22nd Special In-Camera Meeting respecting the development of a proposed Soccer Field to be located at the Recreation Site located on Pemberton Farm Road East.
Why are we just hearing about this now?
To date, discussions regarding the Soccer Field project have taken place at In-Camera (or Closed meetings) pursuant to Section 90 (1) ( k) of the Community Charter ("Negotiations and related discussions respecting the proposed provision of a municipal service that are at their preliminary stages…").
These discussions have taken place at an In-Camera (closed) meeting as they have been contingent on negotiating voluntary Community Amenity Contributions (CACs) with The Ridge Developers. As a result of these negotiations, Council was able to secure an amenity contribution in the form of pre-load and fill that will prepare the designated lands for the construction of a proposed soccer field.
Council felt it was important to keep these negotiations In-Camera as they were at a preliminary stage and as a means of preserving future negotiating power with other developers.
