Pemberton Transfer Station Tipping Fees Bylaw Update

Posted on September 29, 2016

Effective November 1, 2016 - Gypsum (drywall), mattresses, and yard waste will no longer be accepted at the Pemberton Transfer Station. Tipping fees changed to better reflect increased transportation and disposal costs.

On September 21, 2016, the SLRD Board of Directors adopted Bylaw No. 1496-2016 cited as "Pemberton Facilities Fees and Charges Regulation Bylaw No. 1299-2013, Amendment Bylaw No. 1494-2016". The purpose of this bylaw update is to increase tipping fees in response to recent fee increases at facilities operated by the Resort Municipality of Whistler and District of Squamish, and to provide updated definitions to reflect current regulations. Gypsum (drywall), mattresses, and yard waste have also been added to the list of unacceptable items at the transfer station due to safety requirements, excessive operational costs, and space limitations.

Amendment Bylaw No. 1494-2016 will come into effect on November 1, 2016.
