Notice of Election by Voting

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY given to the electors of the Village of Pemberton that an election by voting is to be held to elect one Mayor and four Councillors. The following persons are candidates for each office:

 

Mayor - one (1) to be elected

Voter registration takes place at the time of voting. You will be required to make a declaration that you meet the following requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older on general voting day
  • Canadian citizen
  • Resident of BC for at least six months immediately preceding the day of registration
  • Not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election or otherwise disqualified by law
  • Resident of the Village of Pemberton on the day of registration or owner of real property in the Village for at least 30 days immediately preceding registration

Resident electors must provide two pieces of identification (ID) (at least one with a signature) that prove both residency and identity. Photo ID is not necessary.

Non-resident property electors must provide two pieces of ID (at least one with a signature) to prove identity, proof that they are entitled to register in relation to the property, and, if there is more than one owner of the property, written consent from the majority of the property owners.

General Voting Day will be Saturday, October 15, 2022, between 8am-8pm at the Pemberton and District Community Centre.

Advance Voting will be available at the Pemberton and District Community Centre as follows: Saturday, October 1 from 9:30am-3:30pm Wednesday, October 5 and Wednesday, October 12 from 8am to 8pm.

Mail Ballot Packages may be requested from the Village office between 9am, Monday, September 19, and 4pm, Friday, October 14, 2022 excluding weekends and statutory holidays, and until 4pm on General Voting Day at the Pemberton and District Community Centre. Mail ballots must be received by the Chief Election Officer before the close of voting at 8pm on Saturday, October 15.
