In accordance with Sections 24 and 26 of the Community Charter, the Council of the Village of Pemberton hereby provides notice of its intent to extend the lease of the land at the Pemberton Children’s Centre located at 7396 Cottonwood Street, Pemberton, British Columbia, and legally described as PID: 027-219-313, LOT B DISTRICT LOT 203 LILLOOET DISTRICT PLAN KAP84778 (the “Daycare”) to PEMBERTON CHILD CARE SOCIETY (the “Society”).
The lease extension agreement between the Village and the Society will be for an extended term of 20 years ending on or before December 16th, 2052, subject to earlier termination under the terms of the lease agreement with an option to renew for one additional term of 10 years. The Society will pay nominal basic rent and will be responsible for all other costs relating to the operation and maintenance of the Daycare. The lease extension agreement will also be for extended premises to accommodate the Village’s construction and nominal transfer to the Society of a new day care building for operation by the Society.
Under the lease extension agreement and building transfer agreement, the Society will continue to operate and maintain the licensed non-profit Daycare to provide year-round daycare services to the community. The new daycare building is anticipated to provide an additional fifty (50) childcare spaces for children aged three to five years old, in two new classrooms.
